Wayne Covey Obituary

Captain Wayne Walther Covey, 66, of New Orleans, died Sunday, May 23rd, 2021 in his Mandeville home in the presence of his loved ones. He was born on August 18th, 1954, to Barbara Dee Walther Covey and Robert Dwight Covey. Wayne attended the Sea School of Panama City, Florida, where he earned various Master Seaman credentials. He maintained these licenses from 1979-2017. He married Lottie Athena Lancaster Covey on November 22nd, 1992 and they had two children, Mayme Elissa Covey and Cassie Elaine Covey. Wayne enjoyed spending his free time fishing and cooking for friends and family. He was an admirer of military aircraft and vintage cars. He shared his enthusiasm for nature and respect for wildlife with both of his daughters. Wayne was always eager to share his love for God and spread the word of the Lord. No memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones when a service is scheduled. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Wayne's favorite charity, Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
