DUMAS Whitney P. ""Buckwheat'' Dumas, Sr. on Tuesday, October 12, 2004. Beloved husband of Leona Steib Dumas. Father of Mary Smith, Sally Westley, Cynthia Himes, Ailien Ferchaud, Nicholas, Whitney, Jr., Harvey, Matthew, Timothy and Brian Dumas and the late Marie Rose Dumas. Son of the late Paul and Rose Dumas. Brother of Wilbourine Steib, Mary Freeman, Celeste James, Paul, Russell and Anthony Dumas and the late Agnes Wooden, Victoria Simon, Harry, John and Haywood Dumas. Also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. A native and resident of Vacherie, LA. Age 78 years. Relatives and friends of the family, officers and members of Good Children Society, American Legion Post #565, Knights of Peter Claver Council #161 and neighboring churches are invited to attend a mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 15, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. from Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Vacherie, LA. Rev. Michael Miceli, Celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery. Visitations from 8:00 A.M. to funeral time on Friday at the church. Arrangements by Williams & Southall Funeral Home, Napoleonville, LA 985-369-7231.
