William Lee Adkins

2013 - 2021

William Lee Adkins was born September 14, 2013 and unexpectedly departed this life November 14, 2021. He was born in the union of Dr. Meiko Thompson and Thomas Adkins in Knoxville, TN. From the beginning he was an amazing child who was very inquisitive, always wanting to understand how things worked (asking numerous questions when he could not figure things out). He was a third grader at the International School of New Orleans, where his favorite subjects were Math and Science. William also participated in the Science and Chess Clubs. He hoped to grow up to be an engineer and an astronaut. William leaves to cherish his memory his mother Dr. Meiko Thompson, his father Thomas (Shannon) Adkins, grandparents Dr. Ivene Thompson and Pastor Michael and Jacqueline Swint, great-grandparents William and Betty Adkins. GiGi Danyell Thompson, aunts Destiny Thompson, Qynisha McDowell, and CaTressa (Nick) Bell, uncles Ramon (LaToya) Thompson, Michael Swint II, Devante (Ariel) Thompson, and Fred McDowell, great-aunts Mae Lee, Daisy (Charles) Ellis, DesMarie (Elliot) Tiglar, great-uncle Charles (Laura) Thompson, sister cousins Cheyenne Thompson, Jurnee McDowell, Kelsi Catchings, Amiyah Thompson, and Gabby Bell and brother cousins James and Sidney Thompson, Marquis and Destin Thompson, KJ McDowell, Tyres McDowell, Matthew Billups, Wamuu Cody, and Jessan Allen. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Jesse Lee Thompson. He will always be remembered by his host of family and friends and his Proclaiming Christ Church, Tuskegee University, Alabama A&M University, University of Tennessee, Southern University at New Orleans, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, and Abott Laboratories Families. In lieu of flowers, please donate the William Adkins Scholarship Fund, 3440 Roosevelt Blvd., Kenner, La. 70062. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sweet Home Christian Center, 434 Jackson St., Kenner, LA 70065. Interment to follow at Tickfaw Missionary Baptist Church, 6339 Bates School Road, Magnolia, MS 39652.
