William Brandner Obituary

Our beloved father, William S. Brandner, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016, at the age of 95, surrounded by his children. A native of New Orleans, Bill attended Jesuit High School, graduating in 1937. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1941-1945 as a Boatswain Mate. For 37 years, he was owner of Brandner Furniture Store and Ridge House Gallery. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and served as past president of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, archdiocese of New Orleans. Rita, Bill's wife of 72 years, passed away two years ago and he felt her presence daily. They are now reunited for eternity. Bill was predeceased by one loving son, Dr. Scot Brandner, and is survived by one sister, Sister Patricia Brandner, CSJ. His memory will be cherished by his children, William, Jr., (Kathy), Dr. Patrick J., (Kelli), Kathleen Fernandez, (Jose), Michael, (Cindy), Dr. Craig, (Pam), Maureen Muller, and a very special niece, Janet Ketcham, (Steve). He was dearly loved by eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses, or memorial donations may be made to Society of Vincent de Paul, Community Care Hospice in Hammond, LA, or Jesuit High School Endowment Fund. The family wishes to thank Community Care Hospice, and especially Megan and Lisa, for their compassion and outstanding care given our father in his last days with us. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mandeville, on Tuesday, July 19, at 2 p.m. A private graveside service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. To view and sign the family guestbook, please visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com .

Pat and family, we are so sorry to learn of Mr. Bill's death, but can't help but smile knowing he and Mrs. Rita are one again and in the arms of our Heavenly Father. We send our prayers and love, but can't make the funeral as we are in Hawaii till Friday.. Sincere sympathy to all of you. It was and is obvious to all who know your family how much you loved and respected your Mom and Dad.

Pappa was a wonderful mentor and guide in all things. Caring and kind Grandfather to my two girls.....aways a smile and a bad joke. Tough but loving. He can now sail away down the Mississippi out to the gulf and beyond...
