William LaGarde Obituary

William Albert LaGarde, III went home to the Lord on June 25, 2018 with his wife of 42 years, Rebecca C. LaGarde, by his side. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, servant, Marine, biker and big brother. Born in Richmond, VA on September 9, 1950, he was the son of William A. LaGarde Jr. and Lois Carmouche LaGarde, both deceased; father of Michelle LaGarde, Jean LaGarde (Heidi), Matheu LaGarde and Jessica Loving (Ajaji); and brother to Andre LaGarde and Chanel Lagarde (Brenda). He was also a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren. William attended Destrehan High School finishing his diploma in 1969. He was in the United States Marine Corps from 1969-71 and held an associate degree in river transportation from the National River Academy. He and his wife have been residents of River Ridge for the past 42 years. A member of Agape Christian Church, William's faith served as the foundation for him becoming a servant of God by ministering to the sick and elderly through gracious gifts of time, prayers and love. Never a chore or a burden, it was a vocation that he looked forward to each and every day. And one that made the day better for anyone he visited. Only God knows why William's journey ended much sooner than we ever wanted or expected. He had so much good work left to do. But he has made his way home, and we take solace knowing his eternal reward. "Well done, good and faithful servant....Come and share your master's home." Family and friends are invited to honor his life at Agape Christian Church at 3810 Power Blvd. in Metairie on Friday, June 29, 2018. Visitation at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or Notre Dame Hospice. Arrangements by L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home.
