William Howell Martel Sr.

William Martel Obituary

Mr. William Howell Martel, Sr., a retired printer for the Times-Picayune, died at Ormond Nursing Home in Destrehan on Tuesday, December 30, 2003. He was 81. Mr. Martel was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel T. Martel and his father, Louis Joseph Martel, Sr. and mother, Helen Maud Bush. He was a native and resident of New Orleans and a resident of Luling, LA since 1987. Mr. Martel was a decorated veteran who honorably served the U.S. Navy as a medic during World War II. He is survived by one sister, Marjorie Martel Werner and one brother, Louis J. Martel, Jr. He is also survived by two sons, William H. (Bill) Martel, Jr. and James L. Martel and 3 granddaughters: Marie Martel Fahy, Jennifer Martel Albert and Michelle Marie Martel. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery), on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 PM until service time. In lieu of flowers, Masses or memorials to the charity of your choice preferred..
