Craig E. Lainson, age 71, passed away August 23, 2025. Craig was born on May 5, 1954 to the late Frederick and Vernelle (Olsen) Lainson.

He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1972, and worked for Giant Manufacturing and West Iowa Tool and Die until their closing. He then worked for Council Bluffs Schools and later at The University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Craig married Stephanie Gohlinghorst in 1984 and were blessed with two daughters Jamie and Allyse.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughters, Jamie Lainson and Allyse Hotze; grandchildren, Meika Daniels, Harrison and Corbin Hotze; brother, Frederick and wife, Trudy; sister, Suzanne Jensen and husband, Carroll; ; several nephews and great-nieces.

Craig lived in Council Bluffs for most of his life and made many friendships. He enjoyed duck hunting and fishing in his younger years. Later he enjoyed golf and taking care of his yard and garden. He loved nature and always made sure to keep the birds and squirrels fed.

Craig loved his family and was always ready to share his knowledge and ideas with them. He will be remembered for his values of faithfulness, commitments, and persistence in adversity.

Visitation Thursday 5 - 7:00 p.m. Funeral service Friday 10:30 a.m., all at Cutler O'Neill Funeral Home. Interment Walnut Hill Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Walnut Hill Reception Center.

Memorials are suggested to Promise for Paws or Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
