Danny Allen Bowen

January 30, 1947 - September 30, 2025

Danny Allen Bowen, age 78, of Council Bluffs, passed away September 30, 2025, at CHI-Mercy Hospital. Danny was born January 30, 1947, in Omaha, Neb., to the late Bert and Helen (Bills) Bowen, and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School with the class of 1965.

Danny proudly served in the US Navy and was united in marriage to Julie Arrick on June 28, 1969. To this union, daughter, Suzanne and son, Patrick were born.

Danny worked for over 35 years for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1997 as a Yardmaster. His hobbies included homing pigeons, in which he started as a youngster, and horse racing with brother Bill. He was a trendsetter in fishing and hunting, the king of 1,000 hobbies, and most of all, loved his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Danny is preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Manley and husband, Ed, Myrna Edson and husband, Dan; nephew, Jay Edson; sister-in-law, Bev Bowen.

Danny is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julie Bowen; daughter, Suzanne "Sue" Bowen and Kevin Allely; son, Patrick Bowen and wife, Kimberly; grandchildren, Morgan Bowen and wife, Racquel, Kallie Reeves and husband, Preston; great-grandchildren, Ivy and Mabel; step-grandchildren, Jaimee, Julie Ann, Brooklynn, and Austin; a host of great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Bowen; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation, Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. Funeral service, Monday, 10:30 a.m., all at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring, Bayliss Park Chapel.

Danny will be laid to rest in Ridgewood Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Corpus Christi Church, 3304 4th Avenue, in Council Bluffs.
