Emily Strohmeier Obituary
December 1, 2002 - May 5, 2025
Emily Terese Strohmeier, age 22, passed away at home on May 5th, 2025. Emily was born on December 1, 2002, in St. Louis Park, Minn. She is the oldest of three children, born to Scott and Karla (Kunkel) Strohmeier. Emily, affectionately known as "Sassy," will be remembered for her welcoming smile, love for her family, cheering for her sisters at their sporting events, and watching her dad coach Reiver Football. Emily's favorite things were visiting family in Minnesota, neighborhood gatherings, making grocery lists, listening to music, eating at Freddie's, and playing with Lizard, the family cat. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Dave and Pat Strohmeier; and her cousin, Zachary Kunkel. Emily is survived by her parents, Scott and Karla; sisters, Anna and Kate, all of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Kunkel family, grandparents Larry and Teresa Kunkel, Tim and Janelle Kunkel, Lisa and Dan Waltzing, Brenda and Greg Medvec, Gina and Todd Sandin, Eric and Stephanie Kunkel, Mary Beth and Aaron Rasset, Laura and Dan Dolan. Strohmeier family, Jim and Jaime Strohmeier, Deb and Matt Evans, Mike and Breanne Strohmeier; and many cousins and friends.
Emily was weeks away from receiving a kidney transplant from a living donor. The living donor program has provided immense hope for the family, and they would like to encourage others to consider being a living kidney donor. Visitation is Monday, May 12th, from 4 to 8 p.m., and the Celebration of Life Service is Tuesday, May 13th, at 11 a.m. Both will be held at First Christian Church, 20794 Highway 92, Council Bluffs, Iowa.

I didn't realize that sweet Emily had passed. I'm so very sorry. I was the art teacher at Kreft and Titan Hill. Emily was my student and she was a delight. Always a smile on her face. Always a joy.
