Joseph P. Sandbothe

July 14, 1929 - July 11, 2024

Joseph P. Sandbothe, age 94, passed away on July 11, 2024 just three days shy of his 95th birthday, at Prairie Gate Care Center in Council Bluffs.

Joe was born July 14, 1929, in Panama, IA., to the late Joseph M. and Loretta (Pauley) Sandbothe. He was united in marriage to Jeanette C. (Frank) Sandbothe on July 14,1953. He proudly served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany from July 10, 1951 to June 18, 1953 and served in the Army reserve unit until 1959.

Joe worked for Food Services of America from 1962 until 1991 and prior to that at the Safeway and Pepsi Companies.

Joe and his wife moved to Council Bluffs in 1956 and were members of the Catholic Faith.

In addition to his parents Joe is preceded in death by his wife Jeanette "Jean" in 2012; siblings Ray, Leonard, Mike, Donald, Robert, Theresa (at birth), Mildred Douglas and 3 infant sisters. Dogs Molly and Sadie.

Survivors include his children, Karen (Paul) Conklin, of Eldridge, IA., Sharen (Doug) McClure, of West Des Moines, IA., Paula (Charles) Glecker, of Council Bluffs; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sibling sisters, Frances (Max) Millsap, Genevieve Nordin, both of Minnesota; brother- in- law Francis (Maria) Frank, of Las Vegas, NV.

Visitation Tuesday, 10 to 11 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., all at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites at the grave. Luncheon will follow at the Walnut Hill reception Center. Memorials are suggested to Midlands Humane Society.
