Lydia Young Obituary

Lydia J. K. Young (Axelsen) "Aunt Lou", age 100, entered eternal life on July 12, 2007.

She was born March 17, 1907, in Neola, Iowa, to Elias and Johanne Eriksen. Lydia moved to Council Bluffs in 1943 and with husband Gustav Axelsen operated the Axelsen Danish Bakery for 26 years. Gus passed away in 1975. She later married Lester Young who preceded her in death in 1983. Aunt Lou was a faithful member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and served many hours volunteering her time.

She is also preceded in death by her sister, Esther Christiansen; and brothers Henry and Clarence Ericksen.

Survivors include sister-in-law, Bernice Ericksen; nieces, Mrs. Ralph (Wanda) Peterson, Mrs. Herb (Sharon) Anderson, Renee Rodenburg, and Cynthia Paxton; nephews, Gene Christiansen (Karon), Gerald Christiansen (Joy), Gail Christiansen, Ronald Ericksen; friend, Dorothy Schroder and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation Sunday with prayer service at 5:00 p.m. followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill- Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service Monday 10:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Interment Cedar Lawn Cemetery with luncheon back at church.

Memorials to American Heart and American Cancer Society.
