Berit Anfinson Obituary
Berit Liv Anfinson was born on December 2, 1938, to Sigmund Nordanger and Lillian (Oakland) in Oslo, Norway. As an infant, Berit moved with her mother to St. Paul, Minnesota, where she was raised. In 1956, she graduated from Wilson High School and began working for Minnesota Mutual Insurance Company as a secretary. On January 31, 1959, she married Robert James Anfinson at Jehovah Lutheran Church in St. Paul.
After marriage, the couple farmed in Greenvale Township outside Northfield on the family farm, purchasing their own farm in 1964. Over the years Berit worked for McGlynn's Bakery, Econo Foods, and retired after working for the Northfield Retirement Community. In 2008, they left the farm and moved into Northfield. Bob passed away on March 19, 2011.
Berit was an active member of Highview Christiania Lutheran Church, the Red Hat Society, and the Castle Rock and Rollers. She was very involved in Fifty North and loved her vegetable and flower gardens. Berit was kind, loving and genuine. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her children Lynn Storch-Odette (Dale Odette) of Northfield, Lorie Emerson (Greg Wilson) of Northfield, Joy Demuth (Sonny Hubers) of Savage; her grandchildren Holly Emerson and Josh (Kristina) Emerson; her great-grandsons Robert and Taylor; her sisters Sharon (Tom) Kimmel of Eagan, Janis (John) Jeske of Oakdale, Kari Nordanger and Ine Goksor, both of Norway; her brothers Oivind and Birger Nordanger, both in Norway; other family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her sons-in-law Tom Emerson and Bryan Storch, and her parents.
A celebration of Berit's life will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, January 10, 2025, at Highview Christiania Lutheran Church in rural Farmington. Interment will be at Highview Christiania Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00PM - 6:00PM, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the Bierman, Benson & Langehough Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Friday at the church beginning at 10:00AM.
