Amelia Witt Obituary
Amelia Zaharis Witt, age 78, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2018 in Cumming, GA. She was born in Syracuse, NY to Peter & Elena Zaharis. She met the love of her life, James Witt, while dancing with the NYC Ballet. They married July 16, 1960 and settled in Kings Park, NY then River Vale, NJ.
Amelia was happiest when surrounded by her family, especially her 9 grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kind, caring, and generous spirit. She is survived by her husband, James, her children, Peter (Kerry), Catherine Ferraro (Greg), Stephanie Weise(Peter), Lizabeth (Stephen Mixon), Paul (Doug Geller); grandchildren, Sarah, Kelsey, Benjamin, Nicholas, Brandon, Chloe, Sophia, Alex & Tyler; her sister, Maria Weiss (Al); and many nieces and nephews.
The family greeted friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 23 at McDonald & Son Funeral Home in Cumming, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Donate Life America, 701 East Byrd St., 16th Floor, Richmond, VA 23219 or Donatelife.net. There will be a memorial mass in the near future in River Vale, NJ.
