Dearest Charlene, Doug and Derrick:
We are extremely sorry for the loss of Drew, a little angel that always blessed us with his presence whenever he would come and visit us and Nicole on the weekends. He was such an outstanding little boy who always made us smile, and had the tendency to always bring the best out of people. We will miss him coming over to visit very much, and one day hope to reunite with him in heaven.
PS...Bijou is going to miss you playing with her! She loves and misses you, as we all do...

Words cannot express how saddened we all have been for the past week now. Drew was such a wonderful person, and he was always such a pleasure to see and talk to! Many times Drew would come over with my little cousin Michael to hang out with me and my puppy. Drew was such a kind and sweet little gentleman, and I always called him "My Little Cousin" just like Michael is. I will continue to pray for your family, and want you to know that everyone is here whenever you might need us. God bless you all.

This year I was looking forward to coaching Drew in Babe Ruth. I will always cherish the memories of the games he played for me in fall ball and of the few practices we had this year. What a pleasure Drew was. He was a well rounded kid who was talented in many, many things. Drew also knew the Lord. In the past several months during Sunday School , we talked about heaven and being prepared and what heaven may be like and being afraid to die.Drew was prepared. One day he said "I mean I wouldnt want to die now but why would I be afraid"? That echos now in my head because although it wasnt his plan he had no doubt that there was a heaven and a God who would give him eternity.He was not afraid of dyeing . Our hearts will never except the timing of his end here with us. God must have needed someone so very special to have taken him from us.So our earthly life has been shattered and our understanding mystified and maybe for some faith shakin, but it's only temporary. And all days here will never be the same but oh what awaits us......someday. Prayers and thoughts go out to the Dematteo famliy. Find your strength in God but know its ok to fall apart.We will all be here to help pick you up, hold you up, whatever your need may be.

To Drews family: there isn't much I could possibly say, except that he was a great friend and team mate. I will proudly wear his patch on my sleeve for baseball that his spirit will be with me forever.
