Anne ZUSY-ORTIZ Obituary

ZUSY ORTIZAnne Jane, 58, of Ridgewood, formerly of Washington D.C., died June 3, 2010. She was born in Cairo, Egypt. Wife of Alberto Ortiz, and mother of Alexander Z., Elizabeth Anne, and Katharine Mary Ortiz, all of Ridgewood. Daughter of Mary Jane and the late Fred Zusy, and sister of John, Mark, Susan, Cathie, David, and Jeannie Zusy. Annie was predeceased by her biological mother Maureen Percelay. A graduate of University of Maryland with a B.A in Journalism, Anne worked for the Voice of America, was a Reporter and Editor for the Associated Press, was a City Desk Reporter, then Editor of the Foreign Desk of the New York Times, Anne then became Managing Editor of the Village Gazette. She was Past President of Federated and the George Washington Middle School Home and School Association. She was the 2006 Ridgewood Volunteer of the Year, and raised funds for the Community Center in Village Hall. Anne was elected to the Ridgewood Village Council in 2008, where she also served on the Planning Board. All are invited to gather Tuesday at 11 AM for the Funeral Service at the Westside Presbyterian Church, 6 S Monroe St. in Ridgewood. Visiting Hours will be Monday from 5 – 9 PM at the Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Avenue, Ridgewood. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Annie's memory, payable to the Anne Zusy Scholarship Fund, 232 Franklin Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ 07450 or to the Ridgewood Education Foundation, PO Box 575, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. www.feeneyfuneralhome.com

I just wanted to send my sympathy to the Zusy-Ortis family. I very much appreciate all the hard work that Anne did for Ridgewood. I am especially grateful for the Community Center which helped establish.
