Anthony Modafferi Obituary

MODAFFERI - Mr. Anthony "Tony," 86, died on May 6, 2002, at Plantation Estates, Matthews, North Carolina. Prior to moving to North Carolina, Tony was a long-time resident of Cresskill, where he was a member of St. Therese Church, and prior to retirement, he owned Suburban Garden Center, in Emerson. He is survived by Lillian, his beloved wife of 57 years, his son Robert, daughter-in-law, Deborah, and granddaughters Allison, Kristen, Lauren, and Meghan, of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Modafferi, Josephine Mosely, and Nancy O'Brien, all Bergen County residents, and brothers Pat Modafferi, of Rockaway, and Peter Modafferi, of Tennessee. Tony always had a ready smile and a willingness to help others. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a loving grandfather, and a respected member of his community. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at McEwen Funeral Home, Mint Hill, North Carolina. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Friday at St. John Neumann Church, Charlotte, North Carolina. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Englewood, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to The Kristen Modafferi Missing Persons Foundation, 2330 Bonnie Butler Way, Charlotte, North Carolina 28270.
