Twently years ago, when I was 25, I traveled to Italy to visit the towns my grandparents had immigrated from in the Province of Campania. I spent time wandering around these tiny villages. At my grandfather Cesare's village, I sat in the piazza with a few older men. When I talked about who I was - the granddaugther of Teresa and Cesare Salerno, the men became very animated. They started gesticulating about "Antonio" visiting with his father years ago and taking photographs of everything. We all laughed, sharing our understanding of the big heart and open spirit of my uncle, Anthony Patrick Salerno.

He truly left a warm feeling on all those whose lives he touched.

I knew him my entire life, and I remember his inquisitive mind, his enthusiasm, his work ethic, his easy smile and his love and loyalty to his friends and family.

I miss him terribly and feel so privileged to be his niece.
