Arlene DeHoff Jonach

West Caldwell - Arlene (nee DeHoff) Jonach, 85, of West Caldwell, NJ, passed away on July 20, 2021. Arlene happily grew up in Queens Village, NY and was a proud graduate of Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Massachusetts. After college, Arlene worked for the Rockefeller Foundation in New York City, NY.

Living in Short Hills, NJ after marriage, she was a parishioner of Christ Church in Short Hills where she was President and Treasurer of the Women's Guild as well as directress of the Altar Guild. She had served as President of the Hartshorn Elementary School PTA, President of the Millburn Junior High PTA, Treasurer for the Millburn High School's Music Boosters, and Vice President of the Millburn Conference of Parents and Teachers.

Arlene was also a proud Den Leader for Cub Scout Pack 1 in Short Hills and generated the first monthly pack newsletter. In her time volunteering with Boy Scout Troop 15, she received the District Award of Merit for noteworthy service to youth. She also organized its annual Eagle Court award ceremonies, pot luck suppers, and Scout Sundays at Christ Church. Arlene was the proud mother of two Eagle Scouts.

Arlene looked forward to travelling to Walt Disney World each year with her family between 1974-1985. Later in life, Arlene enjoyed cruising around the world with long-time companion Ralph Guion and knitting hats and scarves for donation to the Seaman's Church Institute. She was an avid supporter of several arts and educational organizations, such as the Paper Mill Playhouse and the colleges that she and family members attended.

Cherished wife of the late Lowell Jonach. Predeceased by her son Fritz Jonach of Mountainside, NJ. Survived by her son Kenneth Jonach and his wife Elizabeth of Bernardsville, NJ, her daughter-in-law, Laurie Scott-Jonach, and her grandchildren Scotty and Tori of Mountainside, NJ.

A private interment will be held at the Memorial Garden at Christ Church in Short Hills, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Lowell.
