Athanasios Zahos Obituary

Athanasios "Tom" Zahos

Athanasios "Tom" Zahos died on May 31, 2018, in Red Bank, NJ. He was 87. He lived in Harrington Park, NJ, with his family since 1970. Born on April 28, 1931, at Misericordia Hospital in the Bronx, to Peter and Maria Zahos, Mr. Zahos served his country with distinction in the Third Division of the Seventh Infantry Regiment in the Korean War between 1952 and 1953. He worked for over five decades as an insurance salesman at the New York Life company. He served his Greek community as a parish council member of the Cathedral of St. John the Theologian for many years, as well as the leadership council of Boy Scout Troop 25. He will be remembered most of all as a loving father, joyful "Papou," and devoted husband of 57 years to Phyllis Zahos, who passed away earlier this year. A man of great and quiet strength, inside and out, Mr. Zahos is survived by his son, Peter, daughter-in-law, Kathleen, and grandchildren Zachary, Nicholas, and Arianna; his son, Edward, daughter-in-law, Marilen, and grandchildren Alexander and Isabel; and his daughter, Maria, son-in-law, Marc, and granddaughter, Kristen.
