Barbara Modder Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Bernard Modder announces the passing of his wife Barbara on December 25, 2017. Barbara, a long time Mahwah H.S. educator will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years Bernard; son Larry Modder and his wife, Laureen; daughter Allisen Graves and her husband, Jim. Barbara will also be fondly remembered by her five Grandchildren; Kiera, Kelsie, Madison, Kaelyn, Ryan and her siblings Darlene Denny, Larry and Gene Tremblay. Barbara will be waked on Friday December 29, 2017 at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern, NY from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A mass will be held on Saturday December 30th at 10am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Tuxedo, NY. Interment will follow at the Ascension Cemetery at 650 Saddle River Road, Monsey, NY.

Mr. Modder, I was a student at Mahwah High, class of 66, and in Miss Tremblay's first home room. She was also my shorthand teacher. After moving to FL in the late 70s, I returned to visit Mrs. Modder in the early 80's at the high school. She invited me to your home in Tuxedo Park where I met you. I believe we corresponded for a while after that. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was a wonderful teacher, a wonderful person, and the only teacher I ever cared enough about to want to know as one adult to another. Please accept my deepest sympathy for you and your family's loss. May she rest in peace.

Our sincerest condolences to you and the entire family. I regret not being able to attend the services for Barbara, but our thoughts and prayers were and are with all of you. We remember the good times and the friendships we shared between our daughters (Alison and Bridget) legendary soccer seasons at Tuxedo and yours and my journey as school board members. I cherish those memories as I do your friendship. Optimism and positive thought were always the trademark of you and Barbara - and many, many benefited from knowing you guys! Bill and Barbara Boss

My deepest sympathies on Mrs. Modder's passing. She was one of my favorite teachers, but more than that, our parents were friends... my Dad (Joe Kotos) and Mr Tremblay were golfing buddies for years. Our Moms grew up together. RIP. May memories sustain you during this sad time.
