Bernadette Kaley Obituary

KALEY - Bernadette Regina (nee Delaney), on December 31, 2004, left us to join her husband George in Heaven. Bernadette leaves an indelible impression on her children James, Rosemary, and Patrick; her grandchildren Annette, Regina, Kathleen, Christopher, Thomas, Patrick and Brian; and her great-grandchildren Sarah, Gene, Ronald and Kyla. Bernadette is also survived by her sister Rose. Bernadette was born in Jersey City in 1916 (sorry, but you told us to always tell the truth). After high school, while attending St. Peter's College at night, Bernadette worked for the the Jersey City Board of Education. During WWII, she served in the US Navy as a cryptographer and telegrapher in Washington, DC. While doing reserve duty in 1947, she met George. Several military moves later, they settled in River Edge, New Jersey for 49 years, where she began her real (and best) work of training and raising children and grandchildren. Bernadette and George moved to Lighthouse Point, Florida three years ago. Bernadette and George were founding members of St. Peter's Parish in River Edge. As a den mother for and behind the scenes for another 15 years, she was a strong supporter of Scouting at St. Peter's Pack and Troop 184. Bernadette was a member of a number of religious support organizations: Rosary Society, Altar Society, and the Teresians, among others. She also was always supportive of St. Peter's College which made her an honorary alumnae. She was an active supporter of the Women in Military Service for American Memorial Foundation and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to that organization. Funeral Mass, Thursday, 9:30 AM, St. Peter Church in River Edge. Family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Beaugard Funeral Home, 869 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge, NJ. Interment is at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City.
