Calvin Stansfield Obituary
Calvin Thornley Stansfield, age 84 of Glen Rock died Sunday, October 8, 2017.
Born in Middletown, NY he grew up in Fair Lawn, NJ and graduated from Fair Lawn High School in 1951. He attended and graduated from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. It was at Bucknell where he met Shirla Williams his future wife of 55 years. Upon graduation in 1955 he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corp from which he was honorably discharged in 1959.
Residing and raising his family in Glen Rock, Cal worked for many years in the manufacturing industry and was President of H.R. Williams Associates, Inc. Ridgewood, NJ.
Cal was a past President of the Glen Rock Jr. Football Association. A proud member and officer of the Glen Rock Salt Water Fishing Club, a lifetime member of the Glen Rock Athletic Club and a member of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ridgewood, NJ.
Surviving are his daughter, Lynn Stansfield of Pompton Plains and son David and his wife Laura Stansfield of Point Pleasant. Also surviving are his three beloved grandchildren, Andrew, Eric and Kristen and his sister, Marilyn Schoetanes of Brandon, FL. He was predeceased by his wife Shirla (Williams) Stansfield in 2010 and his son Thomas Stansfield in 2002.
The family welcome's friends to join them for visitation on Saturday, October 28, 12:00-2:30 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:30 PM, at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
