Cleary Daniel

Daniel P. Cleary, 77, of Vernon died on Thursday, April 11 at his home in Highland Lakes. Mr. Cleary, son of the late Daniel P. and Maryellen (Foley) Cleary was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on March 13, 1936. He resided in the Bronx before moving to the Highland Lakes section of Vernon in 1971.

Mr. Cleary was a New York City Police Officer retiring in 1980 after 20 years of service. During his career he attended Queens College, receiving a B.A. degree in History. Upon his retirement, Mr. Cleary worked at Sussex Rural Electric from 1981 to 1990 and then worked a couple of years for Beneficial Financial's security department in Peapack-Gladstone. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima RC Church in Highland Lakes as well as a Catechist in the 1970's.

Mr. Cleary is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (McKeown) Cleary; devoted children, Elizabeth Cleary and her partner Patti Gilroy of Lincoln Park; Daniel Cleary of Vernon; Neil Cleary and his wife Maureen of Long Valley; MaryEllen Cleary and David Cleary and his wife Michele of Milford, Pa.; as well as six loving grandchildren, Kathleen, James, Daniel, Colleen, Sean and Lilian Cleary; and dear family friend, Jenn Henning.

Funeral services will be held at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral home on 241 Route 94 (GPS-1 Vanderhoof Ct) to Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Highland Lakes. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Vernon. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association at P.O.
