Cletus Garner Obituary

WEST MILFORD — Services were held for Cletus A. Garner, 55, of Hillburn, N.Y., who died on Sunday, December 16, 2012. He was a former resident of this township.

Born in Greensboro, N.C., Mr. Garner lived in West Milford before recently moving to Hillburn. He was the co-owner and operator of the Passport Café, West Milford, for the past four years. Previously, he was a caterer in Manhattan, N.Y., for more than 20 years. He was a member of the YumYum Club as well.

Services were Thursday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, West Milford. Arrangements were by the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, Newfoundland. Donations may be sent to the West Milford Rotary Scholarship Fund, c/o the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 LaRue Road, P.O. Box 287, Newfoundland, NJ 07435

Mr. Garner is survived by his mother, Vivian Garner of North Carolina; his sisters, Jackie, Sheila, and Wanda; his brothers, Rico, Carl, Michael, and Shelby.

He was predeceased by his father, James; his sister, Gloria; and his brother, James.

I met Cletus working for world class catering he left there and I followed him he started in his tiny kitchen and from there he evolved into a great chef and mentor I am truly shocked and saddened he will always be remembered as my friend

Cletus & I had known each since 1987. Whenever we were together there's was ALWAYS laughter & good times. He loved life & he lived! I loved him so much! My heart is broken, but I know he's in no more pain. I'm going to miss his beautiful smile & great laughter.
