I met Donald in freshman year at Indian Hills HS. There was a fun group of guys who had been at OLPH - Donald, Dave Kough and Tom Ufferfeldge. Donald became a dear friend. We had great times camping at Lake George and going to lots of concerts. Donald was one of the group of guys who introduced me to the Grateful Dead, a lifetime obsession. Donald helped organize the road trip to my first-ever Dead concert in Englishtown, NJ. We also went to lots of local music with a band called Impact. This often brought us all to the NJ Shore - where the photos above were taken. While I haven't lived in Oakland for many years, whenever I came home to visit my Mom I often saw Donald around town - at the Hen's Roost, Portabello, in the neighborhood or driving around. He always asked after my Mom and always made me laugh. Donald was a kind soul and I will miss him. I am sorry I cant be in NJ for his services but my thoughts are with Donald, his family and all the wonderful friends he brought together to make our high school years so memorable. RIP Donald.
