July 25, 2024,
I cant believe its already been 5 years since Dougs been gone. Whenever I think about the ever growing list of friends, family, girlfriends etc, who have passed on it always makes me sad. I always think of Doug near the top of that list. I still remember the good old days hanging out at Bergen Catholic or years later when we reconnected after college and would go to the Palladium, and limelight and other nightclubs in NY city. What great memories. It makes you appreciate life more as you get older and realize its been an amazing journey. I have faith in God that Doug is living the good life (or afterlife) strumming his guitar or catching some waves, always with that beaming smile. Take it easy old friend. The gang will all be together again soon enough.

I met Doug when he was doing his residency at St Francis Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He soon became a dear friend to the Spelman Ohana. He was the very first person to come visit when our daughter was born (and even brought a pizza for my husband). He is known as Uncle Doug to my kids and they remember him fondly. My son had the great fortune of being able to visit Uncle Doug early July when he was in New York. We will miss him dearly!

Doug was a great friend. One of the bright lights of our high school class. He was always smiling, always had a nice thing to say about everybody. He was one of the most upbeat people Ive ever had the good fortune of knowing. During high school and for several years afterward, we hung out together a fair bit. I can't remember anything but positive thoughts about Doug. always fun, always the life of the party, but humble at heart. I regret that as life takes its turns, we lose connections with people and I haven't seen Doug in quite a long time. Still, this newsflash from Bergen Catholic really hit me. I was in an operating room but I actually had to pretend I was looking for something in the cabinet because, it made me tear up pretty badly. Goodbye old friend, you are in Gods good hands now. Rest well. And to the Noble family, my heartfelt sympathies and please take heart in knowing that dougs life was a life very well lead, and he was universally loved by everybody
