Elizabeth Case Obituary

CASE - Elizabeth, Artist/Writer, 75, of Whiting, NJ. Born July 24, 1930 in Long Beach, California, to radio announcer Nelson Case and mother Sarah Lee Case. Elizabeth spent her childhood traveling across the United States and lived in such places as New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida and Texas. She spent her formative years studying painting and philosophy at Elmira College and Syracuse University. Her expansive artistic career included writing and performing Beat poetry in Northern California with Maya Angelou, contributing animation for Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty, serving as a Naval Combat Artist for the U.S. Navy, and a board member for the National Society of Mural Painters. In 1969, she wrote and performed the anti-war poetry album Pax and Dig, which has been performed live as recently as last summer. She has over 300 paintings in her personal collection and has created many murals including
"The Wrong Elf
" at the Old Bridge Public Library. In 1992, Elizabeth moved to Crestwood Village where she enjoyed perhaps the happiest period of her career, editing a local newspaper, performing her poetry, acting in staged readings, and joining many service organizations such as the Red Hats Club and the Crestwood Village Choral Group. She is survived by a daughter, Susan. Three sons, Walter, Keith and Pat and seven grandchildren.
