Elizabeth CHETNIK Obituary

CHETNIK Elizabeth (nee Bober), age 83, of Woodland Park, passed away April 9, 2010 in her home. She was born in Poland and at the age of 15 was taken to a World War II Labor Camp in Germany after which she was eventually able to emigrate through the help of a Catholic relief organization. In America, she began a new life where she met her husband and began to raise her family. As a devoted homemaker she also worked as a seamstress in various locations. She was a parishioner of St. Bonaventure Church in Paterson. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Chetnik. Loving mother to Jadwiga Chetnik, Patricia Sunday, Anthony M. Chetnik and his wife Soledad and Richard Chetnik and his wife Ellyn. She was the dear grandmother to Francesca, Jason, Erika, Claudia, Diego, Kelsey, and Daniel and great grandmother to Jorge and Joaquin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other relatives still living in Poland. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Santangelo Funeral Home, 635 McBride Ave., Woodland Park, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, 9 AM at St. Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey St, Paterson. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave., NY, NY 10065. I was so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I keep alot of fond memories of her in my heart. Especially those times she always made us special treats to take along on the Boy Scout camping trips. Tony,Rich and I always ate well. I will keep her in my prayers .
