When Erik was born to our Lincoln ED Family in April 12, 2012, there was rejuvenation and joy. As the "work" mom, each one like Erik is a bundle of joy that overfills my heart. As
Erik grew as Lincoln ED Nurse there was much appreciation of his deeper character, so genuine as he was "a citizen of the world". And having apreciated the distance he had to travel to work with us bearing the best disposition to care for the infirmed community of the South Bronx, NYC, I was so humbled by his commitmment, dedication, and compassion. He could easily done it closer to home, NJ and yet he made us so proud to have chosen Lincoln as his second home and us, his extended family. I would miss his bear hugs and assurance that he's doing very well each work day and he did very well indeed.
There's a lot of things that keep me busy, but the most that I love is when my "nurse children" come to me for advice professional and personal or just a simple chat. And Erik would always make time to say "hi" or even checking on me if I was feeling good, too. As I am fixing educational files, I have not pressed the "delete" key to update my course rosters. It will be sometime to have Erik's name no longer in the updated list.
When my colleagues in Staff Develpment Dept. told me of your visit to them and how you hugged and thanked them, I simply said it's because Erik's spirit is with us.
Thanks for sharing his many talents and his greatness as a nurse and most of all a man with character. He will always be in our hearts. May he rest in peace. May our prayers provide you comfort and serenity.
