Ernst Poehlsen Obituary
POEHLSEN
Ernst (Henry) Poehlsen passed away at home with his family by his side on September 13, 2014. Born in Poelitz, Germany, he lived in Cresskill for more than 50 years.
He was a supervisor in the composing room for The Bergen Record for 32 years before retiring. He also served in the US Army. He loved nature, antique shows and his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter Tamarra Poehlsen and her boyfriend John McCarthy; his son Roger and wife, Christine of Suffern, NY; his grandchildren Sophia and Jack; his stepson Sean and wife Meire of Florida; his brother Peter; and his sister Ute. He was predeceased by his brothers Wolfgang, Dietrich, Uwe and sister Dietlinde as well as his parents Dietz and Dolly.
Henry was loved by too many people to count. He will forever be missed. A celebration of his life will be held on October 18th at his home for all who wish to attend.

Tamarra,
When you lose someone, it can be hard to take
the pain that you feel when your heart has to break.
The memories you keep are all in your mind
as you search your soul for more to find.
The way their skin felt, the smell of their hair
as you keep thinking over and shedding a tear.
The years may pass, memories fade to grey,
but you're getting no younger; you'll see them someday.
Unconditional love is never forgotten.
Look deep in your heart; it is there at the bottom.
Alone in the dark, sometimes in fear,
voices from loved ones you're hoping to hear.
More years pass, they soon fly by,

It is always such a difficult time, when someone we love passes, we are torn by our emotions that we can no longer be with them, share our lives with them and all those special moments. But, then we must have faith that they have moved on to a better place, to be in heaven, and that they are now watching over us. We need to embrace the memories we have shared with them, the laughter, the good time, the love that they have imparted, and do our best to move on and celebrate the fact that we had the opportunity to be a part of their lives. Henry, he will forever be a part of us. Growing up, he, was a very important part of my life. I will always cherish the time we were able to spend together on many occasions, the excursions into NYC, and upstate New York, the weekends together, but especially the many Christmas Eve's we spent in his home, they are some of my fondest memories. Henry, will be deeply missed!

It's difficult to put into words what Henry meant to me and the difference he made in my life. So many funny, wonderful memories I have that will stay fresh in my mind because Henry was that special and had such a big impact on me. He could make even the simplest moments a memory because he was that colorful and fun. He filled a void in my life and heart that I so needed and I'll probably hear his voice and words in my head for the rest of my life. So many gifts I have from him that bring back memories from birthdays, holidays, or just when we were out at craft and antique fairs. I will miss him terribly but feel that his presence and impact on my life was a huge gift that I will always cherish. You're always in my thoughts and prayers especially now as you go through this painful time. He loved you so much and you were such a loving, devoted daughter. You're fortunate to have had such an amazing father! I love you and am always here for you :)

Losing your dad has been extremely difficult, because you are lost a source of strength, stability and consistency in your life. Henry was a great man, full of integrity and character.
