Estelle Schneider Obituary

SCHNEIDER
Estelle, died peacefully on January 26, 2012 at the age of 93. Estelle lived her entire life in New Jersey, moving to Englewood when she married C. Conrad Schneider on June 24, 1945. She subsequently lived in Tenafly, Hackensack and Teaneck.
Estelle graduated high school, attended secretarial school and worked as a secretary until her marriage. Her marriage was very much a partnership, with Estelle supporting her husband in his career as a lawyer, and then as a Bergen County Court Judge. Estelle and Connie enjoyed raising their children, entertaining in their home and contributing to the community. They were members of Temple Emanuel of Englewood for many years and then joined Temple Beth El of Hackensack. They also shared a passionate interest in golf, walking, ballroom dancing, art, music, and travel. They had a winter home in Florida for many years. As a younger woman, Estelle had loved to ride horses.
Estelle was gregarious and loved talking with people. She would talk with strangers while standing in line or on a bus during foreign travel. She was an avid hostess, enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends, especially making a tasty yeast cake for her husband and children. She contributed her time and talents to the Jewish Community.
Predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Estelle is survived by her brother, Bertram Slaff, her son, Stephen Schneider, her daughter, Louise (Richard Adler) Schneider, and by her grandchildren, Max Adler and Sophia Adler. The family is very appreciative of the many expressions of sympathy we have received. We are thankful for the love and kindness Estelle shared with us.
There will be a graveside service at Riverside Cemetery on Sunday at 11 AM. Anyone interested in making a contribution in honor of Estelle Schneider could do so to the UJA Federation of Northern new Jersey (www.jfnnj.org) or to CARE (www.care.org )
