George Heest Obituary

VAN HEEST
George, age 89, of Mahwah, died Friday, March 9, 2012. Born in Ridgewood, NJ, George lived in Franklin Lakes for 50 years before moving to Mahwah 20 years ago. He was a US Army Air Corps Veteran serving in the Air Transport Command as an Aircraft Mechanic during World War II; a 50 year member of the Franklin Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Franklin Lakes United Methodist Church since 1943. George worked for many years as a self-employed carpenter and retired from the Valley Hospital in that trade. George is survived by his loving wife Anna, his son George Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Mahwah, his son Garry and his wife Karen of Colchester, CT, and his four grandchildren, Stacie, Stephanie, Joshua and Jacob. Visiting hours are Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ, www.vpfh.com. Memorial Service is Tuesday, 11 AM, at Franklin Lakes United Methodist Church, 454 Pulis Ave., Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417.
