George Reall Obituary

REALL
George, born in 1919 in Cambridge, MA, passed away September 23, 2012. He was a member of both the Utah and New York State Bar Associations, a graduate of Harvard Law School and Tufts College. During World War II he served as both a B-24 bomber crew member, earning a distinguished flying cross, and as an instructor in the Army Air Force Intelligence School.
Professionally George was most passionate about insurance and spent most of his career with the National Council on Compensation Insurance. He came to NCCI from the Utah State Workman's Compensation Fund where he was Assistant Manager and was closely associated with legal, claims, underwriting and statistical matters. In January 1952, NCCI announced the addition of George Reall to the Executive Staff as Assistant Secretary. Prior to Mr. Reall's assignment, this position was known as "Attorney" rather than "Assistant Secretary."
In March 1957, the Board announced George Reall was promoted to General Manager, which is now known as the President and CEO position at NCCI. In 1980, George retired from NCCI with 28 years of service and 23 years as the head of the company. As a retirement gift, employees throughout the company contributed to the purchase of a piano for George to enjoy in his leisure time. Beyond family and NCCI, George loved most to play the piano – and he was quite good.
George and his wife, Eula, loved their home in Sedona, AZ but had moved a few years ago to be closer to their children and grandchildren in Castle Rock, CO, approximately 40 miles south of Denver.
George will be fondly remembered by all and he is survived by his wife of 60 years Eula, his son Gus and his wife Dawn and two grandchildren Josh and Brandon.
There will be no services as this was George's wish. In lieu of flowers donations in George's name can be made to the Douglas County Monument Fund online at

George was the standard that all attorneys should strive to meet and seldom do. He was articulate, always fun and interesting company, and always the utmost gentleman. And he was smart enough to marry the perfect woman. The world is a lesser place without him.
