Grace Douglass Obituary

DOUGLASS - Grace (nee O'Byrne) 92, died after a long illness on May 22nd at her home in Vienna, VA. Grace was born in NY, NY and raised her family in Ramsey, NJ. She was active in the Ramsey Presbyterian Church and often served as a Sunday School Teacher. In the 1950's she was the President of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary. After her husband's death, Grace joined her daughter, Carol and her family in Vienna, VA. While in Vienna, Grace served as Chair of the Clothing Closet of the Committee for Helping Others for over 10 years. She was active in both the Wesley Methodist Church and the Vienna Presbyterian Church. Her commitment to community service was strong and she sponsored a child through World Vision since 1954. She was pre deceased in death by her husband of 37 years, Henry Mortimer Douglass, in 1973. Her daughter Carol Osterlund and her husband, Ken of Vienna,Va., her son Edward Douglass and his wife, Paula of Kitty Hawk, NC., her granddaughter, Heather Osterlund Gaillard and her husband, Mark of Alexandria, VA and her granddaughter, Leigh Grace Osterlund of Raleigh, NC, survive her. Visitation Saturday from 1-2 PM with a Funeral Service at 2 PM at the Van Emburgh Sneider Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave, Ramsey, NJ. Interment to follow at the Union Cemetery in Ramsey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Aplastic Anemia & MDS (Myelodysplastic disorders) International Foundation, Inc., PO Box 613, Annapolis, MD 21404.
