Dr. Harold S. Goldberg

GOLDBERG Dr. Harold S., age 87, died early Wednesday Morning. He was born in Brooklyn and attended Brooklyn College. He was a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was Board certified in Pediatrics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He was a fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Rehabilitation. His practice was in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. He was on the staff of St. Clair's Hospital in New York City retiring approximately 4 years ago. He was a past president of the New York State Osteopathic Association as well as the New York City Osteopathic Association, and past president of the American Osteopathic College of Rehabilitation. He was past director, member, executive, and investment and finance committees of GHI Health Insurance Company as well as a past member of the Physician's Review Committee and chaired the provider appeals Committee of New York Blue Cross & Blue Shield. He was a member of the Medicaid Advisory Committee of the New York City Commissioner of health, Mayor's task force on comprehensive Health Planning, arbitrator for the New York State Workers Compensation Board, and a member of the Medicaid advisory Committee of the New York State Commissioner of Health. He was also a member of the Board of Governors of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel (Siegel) a sister Anna Appel and brother Murray Goldberg. He is survived by four children: Mark Goldberg of Baltimore, Maryland, a travel writer, Dr. Robert Goldberg of Short Hills, NJ, a Physician and Dean of Touro Medical School in Manhattan, Richard Goldberg of Hawthorne, NJ, acting mayor of Hawthorne and his daughter Jane Goldberg of Las Vegas, two sisters Silvia Schiener of Florida and Selma Robinton of Florida, five grandchildren Jonathan, Adam, Jeffry, Melissa, and Margo.Funeral services will be held 10 AM, on Friday, October 31, 2008, at Gutterman and Musicant, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ (201-489-3800).
