Jack Alter Obituary

ALTER Jack, Mayor of Fort Lee, age 79, on Monday 27, 2007. Born in New York City. He was the 4th term Mayor of Fort Lee. He served his country in the United States Army. He retired as the Chief Executive Officer of Jack Alter Associates Inc., Roseland, attended NYU where he received his Masters Degree in Psychology. He was a Commissioner of the State of NJ Board of Public Utilities, a member of the Bergen County Board of Freeholder's and a member of the Jewish Community Center. Beloved husband of Joan (nee Karp). Devoted father of David and his wife Deborah Alter, Karen and Lisa Alter. Cherished grandfather of Samuel, Rori, Kenneth, Sophie, Jared and Joshua. Dear brother of Renee Sains. All are asked to Assemble Tuesday 10 AM at the Jewish Community Center of Fort Lee, 1449 Anderson Avenue, Fort Lee, NJ. Growing up in Fort Lee Politics I always remembered how Jack always showed dignity and above all class. A Mayor's mayor.. He will be missed.

Dear Alter Family,
Please accept my condolences for the loss of your husband, father, loved one.
I know Jack from working for the Borough of Fort Lee and he was such a warm, kind hearted man. He married my daughter and son-in-law and he will be fondly remembered.
