Jane Kandoian Obituary
KANDOIAN
Jane Arax Erganian, died peacefully in her home in Ridgewood, NJ on March 3, eleven days before her 97th birthday. Born in St. Louis, MO, the firstborn of Mark and Arpen Erganian, she graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in 1941 and pursued a specialty in pediatrics. While a resident at New York Hospital, she met her beloved husband Armig G. Kandoian, a telecommunica-tions engineer. With him she raised three daughters and eventually returned to her profession, enjoying many years as Senior Public Health Physician for the NJ State Department of Health. Jane was predeceased by Armig and her brother Alex. She is survived by sister Marion Izmirlian, daughters Janet, Ellen and Nancy, son-in-law Richard J. Sweeney, and grandson, Nicholas Armig Sweeney. A service will be Saturday, March 9, 12:30 PM at the William G. Basralian Funeral Home, Oradell, NJ. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Washington University School of Medicine (medicine.wustl.edu, designate "Medical Scholarship") or Doctors Without Borders.

Very fond memories of this wonderful woman! She was such a lovely light in the neighborhood. I'll never forget it was she who told me that my daughter's name (Phoebe) was also the name of a bird and that the bird made that sound when it sang. I think of her every time I hear a Phoebe bird sing. Love and peace to all.
