Sweet memories of Jane and the "World War II brides", my mother Mary, Pat, Gloria and their 'dear ones' fill my quiet moments often. They had wonderful times together, making many pots of tea, small little English sandwiches and desserts. They have all passed and we, their children, are now in our retirement years. They filled our lives with joy and love, and I love each and everyone of them.

I think often about the amazing group that made up the British war brides- my mother Mary, Jane Newman, Pat Taylor and Gloria Plott and what they went through and accomplished in their lives, and I miss them so much. The bonds that they formed, hundreds of gatherings, cups of tea, meals and adventures shared could fill volumes of books--and lifetimes. I loved them all. They blessed us so richly. Love you.

Dear friends of Jane--The photo posted my Ms. Crummie is that of a clematis, one of Jane's favorite flowers. She once related that her father had planted a clematis that grew up the wall of the home in England and would brush against her window as a child. Thus, she loved a clematis--sweet memories from her youth and her Dad. Thank you for posting it in her memory.

The four English WWII brides, Jane, Mary, Pat, and Gloria, who came to this country with soldier husbands, became best of friends "closer than sisters", and raised families and kids together are now all together again. I am sure that they have a hot pot of tea waiting for their dear "sister" Jane. She lived a full and wonderful life, endured the rough spots with the British 'stiff upper lip', and is now with her best friends, husband, and sons Roger and Tony. I loved her so much. "Dink, Mary's little boy" as she called me.
