Jessie Sytsma Obituary

SYTSMA - Jessie, 93, of North Haledon, formerly of Prospect Park and now residing in Heaven with her Savior, died of natural causes on January 16, 2007, at the Holland Christian Home. She was born in Paterson, NJ, daughter of Joe and Henrietta Sytsma. Jessie graduated from the Reformed Bible Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1942. She returned to NJ and served at the Back to God Hour Chapel in Paterson for 13 years. She then was a Nurses Aide at Bergen Pines Nursing Home for 16 years. Among her many volunteer activities were numerous happy hours spent at the New Jersey Training Center, the North Jersey Developmental Center, the Eastern Christian Children's Retreat, Friendship Ministries, and The Corner Closet. She is survived by brother Richard of Toms River, sister-in-law Carolyn Sytsma of Flanders, nieces Rita Mondelli of Florida and Christina Sytsma of NJ and nephew William P. Borduin of Maryland. Also surviving are eleven great-nieces/nephews and nine great-great-nieces/neph-ews. She was predeceased by brother Edward and sisters Emma, Alyce, and Barbara. If desired, memorial gifts may be made to the Nursing Dept. of the Holland Christian Home or to Kuyper College of Grand Rapids, Michigan. A Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM, Thursday, January 25, 2007, in the Chapel of the Holland Christian Home, 151 Graham Avenue, North Haledon, NJ. Psalm 62:5-7.
