Another year passes and I still think of you often. Carson just had a baby of his own, as you know, and I am sure you are one of the angels that surround her to keep her safe and protected. Please look after all of our babies and stay close. Until we meet again.

Still missing you all of these years later. I actually just thought of a memory a few days ago, thank you for that. Knowing you are at peace, and knowing that your teasing of where you would end up was truly a joke. You were and are a true angel.

I had Mr. Hummel for Latin in senior year in 1993. We had so much fun going around the room linking a latin root word to an english word. I am just now reading about Mr. Hummel's passing. The World needs more Mr. Hummels. May he rest in peace.

Joel, I can't believe I am writing this. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. We go back a long way and I can't help but laugh at all the memories of us in St. Luke's and on the bus and the corner with Marie. I will always be grateful to you for everything you gave me over these last couple of years. Your friendship and love which was always there; your helpful advice; your level-headedness; your insight when I was clueless; pointing me toward someone and a path that you knew should be followed (and you were so right); allowing Tom and I to know Walt; for taking my hand that day in church(that I will never forget! You knew how I felt) for making such a hugh contribution to my life and Tom's. We will miss your laugh and your unique take on things. We will pray for you and love you always. Keep an eye on us here.

I can't think of Joel and not smile. You were always so much fun to be with and I'm thankful that we got to visit earlier this year when I was staying at mother's. We had a good laugh. God bless you, Joel and rest in peace.

Dearest Joel -
Since I was a little girl you were my "partner in crime". You always made me feel special and loved, and a hug from you could take away any anxieties I may have had. You always defended me, even when I was wrong. I was then given the pleasure of reliving my childhood over again through your kindred connection with Carson. I never thought you were capable of it, but Tuesday was the first time that you ever made me cry. I will miss your infectious love and laughter, but know that you will be with us every day for the rest of our lives, until we meet again in heaven.
Rest in peace with love always,
June and Ed Schlachman

I remember Joel well, although its been many years since we've seen each other. Joel was a talented artist, and he impressed me greatly when I saw several of his paintings.

Joel - you've been part of our family as long as I can remember. As a young girl, you were there at the gatherings causing us all to laugh. Your exuberance for life and joy in being with those you loved, to live life, was inspirational. You will be SO MISSED by all of us. Brian and Alex just loved having you visit, or chatting with you on the phone. We know you are now in heaven, watching over us and we have another guardian angel above.

I was shocked to here of Mr. Hummel's passing. I don't think I have ever laughed harder then I did when I was around him. I will miss him...

I was saddenned to hear from my parents, both of whom worked in the Fair Lawn school system, of this passing. Mr Hummel was one of my favorite teachers and a wonderful advisor for the Domestic Exchange Club (1976-77). He will be truly missed by all those who were fortunate to have known him.

Dear Mr. Hummel,
You will be missed but not forgotten. You were one of my favorite teachers at FLHS over 20 years ago. You were simply the best Spanish and Latin teacher a student could have. I have fond memories of you and class.

I had the pleasure of working with Joel for many years at FHS. He was a cherished colleague and a gifted teacher. One of my sons was in his language class and thoroughly enjoyed his year with Joel. Please accept my most sincere sympathy.
