GURSKI Reverend John, of Allendale, died on Friday, April 10, 2009, at the age of 70 years. Born in Jersey City, "Josh" graduated from Seton Hall University. He was ordained by Most Reverend Thomas A. Boland, STD, Archdiocese of Newark, on May 23, 1964. He served as Parochial Vicar at Holy Spirit/Help of Christians Parish in East Orange (1964-76), Chaplain at St. Mary's Hospital in Orange (1976-81), Parochial Vicar at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in North Arlington (1981-82),Parochial Vicar at Immaculate Conception Parish in Secaucus (1982-84), Parochial Vicar at Holy Trinity R. C. Church in Hackensack (1985-87), Pastor of St. Anne Parish in Jersey City (1990-94), Parochial Vicar at St. Catherine of Sienna Parish in Hillside (1994-95) and Pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Garfield (1995-2004). Beloved son of the late Stanley "Pop" and Helen J. (nee Jasinski). Dearest brother of Stanley F. Gurski and his wife Betty. Loving Uncle of Marybeth Markland and her husband Matt and Nicole Stanchina and her husband C. John. Cherished great uncle of Thomas and Christopher Markland. Special cousin of Susan DeMaria and her husband Richard and Fran Rott. Father Gurski will be transferred on Thursday, April 16th, at 8:30 AM, from the G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack to Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack. NJ with visitation from 9 AM- 10:45 AM. The Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM, with the Most Reverend Peter Leo Gerety, DD, Archbishop Emeritus of Newark, officiating. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth, P. O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961-0476 would be appreciated.
