John Quinn Obituary

QUINN
John, 86, of Pompton Plains, NJ, formerly of Northvale, NJ, died Monday of complications from Alzheimer's disease. Married for 62 years, he was a devoted husband, father and friend.
Born in the Bronx, he was a proud graduate of Cardinal Hayes H.S. After a stint in the Army, he married Ann Rigney in 1951. John began his sound career at WOR radio, then transitioned into the recording engineering business, working with his mentor Bob Fine. John soon moved on to create his own sound studio, The Mix Place on Fifth Avenue with 3 partners, which was the go-to destination in the NYC post-production world. John was a gracious host of many memorable St. Patrick Day parties in the 1970's through the 1990's, as well as a huge Yankee fan.
A deeply spiritual man, in the 1970's he also began working with the Benedictine Monks of Weston Priory in Vermont, ultimately producing over a dozen albums that are still sold worldwide.
John was above all a warm, caring, and patient family man, whose generosity and humor will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Ann and their eight children, Maureen Miller and her husband Ronald, Ginny and Rob Welsh, John Quinn and Katie Karlovitz, Bernadette and Jon Fortunato, Danny and Kay Quinn, Anne and Dan Panessa, Kathleen and Dan Bello, Alice and Joe Guyt. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, Michael Quinn, Kate Newton and her husband Matt, Matt Welsh, Alex and Marco Panessa, Chris and John Bello, Francesca and Sam Fortunato, and Quinn Guyt.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 9:30 AM at St. Anthony's R.C. Church, Northvale with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY. Visiting hours are Thursday 7-9 PM and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale.
Memorial donations in John's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
