Ladislav Pliva Obituary

PLIVA
Ladislav "Larry", 59, passed away on Sept. 17 after a valiant 12 year battle with cancer. He was born in Usti Orlici, Czech Republic and came to America in 1983. He retired two years ago as president of LPDeco Painting and Woodworking Inc., a company he founded in 1989, that enjoyed an excellent reputation with NJ builders, architects, decorators and homeowners. He devote most of his last few years to his paintings. His post modern abstract paintings were in gallery shows in Europe as well as the USA. The rest of his time he spent with his grandson Nicholas, his granddaughter Sophie Jane, his faithful bull mastiff, Benny and his Fender Stratocaster guitar. He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Jana Pliva, his daughter Teresa, both of Hawthorne and son Alex and wife Patricia of Wanaque. Also a brother and sister Peter and Zuzana who live in the Czech Republic. His many friends and associates, in both countries, will also miss his unique and artistic presence. A Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 41A Rhea Avenue, Hawthorne, NJ, hours 3:00-8:00. Donations may be made to Hospice House of Hackensack, 336 Prospect Ave., 7th Fl., Hackensack, NJ 07601 in his name.
