Leon Lucyk Obituary
Lucyk, Leon G., 87, husband of Palma (Lupo), on Monday, May 15, 2017. Born in Mahanony, PA., Mr. Lucyk resided in Pompton Lakes for 62 years. He was a graduate New York Chiropractic College and practiced in Pompton Lakes for 62 years. He was also a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Pompton Lakes. Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dr. Mark Lucyk of West Hartford, CT. and Kirk Lucyk of Pompton Lakes and five grandchildren, Alex, Samuel, Charlie, Taylor and Dylan. Visitation Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Richards Funeral Home, Inc., 4 Newark-Pompton Tpke, Riverdale. Funeral Mass Thursday 9:30 AM, St. Mary's Church, Pompton Lakes. I have so many sweet memories of Mr Lucyk as our neighbor for over 50 years. From his dry sence of humor, to the wonder of all us kids when he got a ride on mower in the 1960's...unheard of! And I always enjoyed watching how fast he would take those tight turns as he speed across the big lawn. It was a miracle the mower did not tip sideways. Maybe that explains why he bought a Jaguar and gave all of us kids rides around the block. He really gunned it down Lincoln Ave. For some reason he did not keep that car ;-). Halloween was also awsume and was the top house to go to why? Lucyk's?....chocolate! No hard candy there. All the memories of having a Boys Club was like Our Gang Comedy where I always initially got in by saying I would be the cook. Well one chocolate cake and then no more. A smart executive move but they kicked me out! To sum it up, my growing up "Wonder Bread" years would have been a little less wonderful if it were not for the Lucyk's. I think Mark Lucyk may have been Vice-President where Tom McClenahan was always president. They all were an intricate part of the Ledwith's lives. I can not be touched that Leon passed on the very same day as my dad who took that trip just two years ago. Thank's for all the memories Mrs Lucyk, Mark, Craig and of course Mr. Lucyk. I will see you at the service
