Leslie Giblin Obituary

GIBLIN - Leslie T. age 93 of Wyckoff died Friday, November 18, 2005. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa he lived in Ridgewood and Ho Ho Kus before moving to Wyckoff 15 years ago. He was a WW II Army veteran. Les, one of the pioneers of the personal development industry, was National Salesman of the year in 1965. In 1968 he authored the classic Skill with People which sold over Five Million copies worldwide and was translated into more than 10 languages. He also wrote: How to be People Smart, How to Have Confidence and Power in Dealing with People, and The Art of Dealing With People. He was a renowned speaker and lecturer for over 50 years whose clients included Amway, Merrill Lynch, General Electric, Johnson and Johnson, the PGA and 700 top retail stores. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, Wyckoff and a 50 year member of the Ridgewood Country Club. He is survived by his beloved wife Gretchen (nee Groesgen) of 64 years, his children, Melody Zima of Upper Saddle River, Linda Wittman and Matt Jacukiewicz of St. Petersburg, FL, son Thomas and his wife Chris Giblin of St. Petersburg, FL and his seven grandchildren; Eric and wife Carol Ann Zima of New Fairfield, CT, Jennifer and husband Jim Sullivan of Langhorne, PA, Gretchen and husband Daniel Castillo of Miami, FL, Allison and husband Tom Ehlers of Annandale, NJ, William and wife Amy Zima of Easton, CT, Brian Zima of Lambertville, NJ and Julia Giblin of St. Petersburg, FL and his five great-grandchildren; Stephanie, Bridget, Tommy Zima and Caroline and Katie Sullivan. Visiting Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Mass Tuesday 10 AM at St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. I just finishes Les's book "the art of dealing with people: and I just felt so compelled to try reach out and just show gratitude and appreciation for this wonderful piece of literature. after doing some research I had found out that Les had passed away and I was so sad that ill never be able to have a conversation with this remarkable person. if anyone would like to reach out and let me know more of his back story im all ears and would love to know more feel free to email me [email protected]
