Lois Nilssen Obituary
Lois Engstrom Nilssen, age 92, formerly of Midland Park, NJ, died on Tuesday, May 2nd at 11:30 AM in the Morningstar Assisted Living Facility in Phoenix, AZ. Lois Engstrom was born on August 13, 1924 in Bronx, NYC to Georgina MacPherson and William John Engstrom. She was married to Arthur Frederick Nilssen for 26 years and lived in Midland Park for nearly 50 years.
Mrs. Nilssen played the harp and her love of music was evident throughout her life. She taught in the Midland Park Public School System for nearly 17 years, and was in the choir and an active member of the West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood, NJ.
She is predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1978 and dear friend Doris Van Wyck in 1990. She is survived by son, Scott Nilssen of Paradise Valley, AZ and Carlsbad, CA, and daughter, Lauren Nilssen Von Lockette and son-in-law, Paris Von Lockette of Arlington, VA, as well as granddaughter, Erin Nilssen of Mahwah, NJ.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 16th at 2 pm at the West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood, NJ.
Mrs. Nilssen's ashes will be interred in the church's memorial garden on Sunday, July 16th.
