Louis Ferreira Obituary
FERREIRA
Louis William, Sr., 87, of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015. Born in Fall River, MA and raised in Teaneck, NJ, he settled in Fair Lawn for 64 years. He was a parishioner of St. Anne R.C. Church in Fair Lawn.
A veteran, he proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Louis served as a firefighter with Fair Lawn Volunteer Fire Dept Co. 4, member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 1076, and was the 2nd Vice Commander of American Legion Post 171 for 18 years. He was also a member of the Friday Social Club.
Louis loved collecting baseball cards. He was best known for his love for his wife, family and friends and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was employed for 20 years by NJ Transit.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 64 years Marguerite (D'Angelo) Ferreira. Loving father of Diane, Louis W. Jr. (Linda), John (Barbara), Steven, Virginia (Michael) and Anthony (Kerry).
Cherished Grandfather of Jennifer (Seton), Stacey (Brian), Melissa, Louis W. III, John (Shiho), Colleen, Heather, Michael, Trevor (Marissa), Timothy, Haley, Jennifer, Sara, Emily, Jennifer (George), Anthony (Amanda) and Christopher. Proud great-grandfather of Kaitlyn, Riley, Briana, Owen, Liam, Charlotte, Ellie, Logan, Giada, and Louis W. IV.
A funeral mass is planned for Friday, January 9, 2015, 11:30 AM at St. Anne R.C. Church, 15-05 St. Anne Street, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 8, 2015, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500.
