My teacher Marcello Roviaro was a magnificent teacher. He would give me major breaks in the cost of his lessons. I studied music theory and counterpoint and ear training.
I might spend an hour on a counterpoint and he would correct and improve it in 1/50th of the time. An amazing and self effacing teacher of the highest kind. I miss him all the time. though I believe he is in a better place and never wish my missing him to be a drag on his spiritual evolution. He never used profanity with me even though he may have known I did. He was the calm and patient teacher we dream of. Bless You Sir

Marcello Roviaro was my accordion teacher from about 1948 to 1959. I pull out my instrument once and a while, practice, and attempt to play the sheet music he so diligently annotated for me. Now, almost 60 years later, I treasure my time with him and his family. He was the consummate teacher and gentleman.

Maestro Roviaro was my accordion teacher and mentor for 15 years. He was a true master of his instrument and was without doubt the finest pupil of Pietro Frosini, the greatest accordionist of the 20th century. He was a true gentleman. He was very proud of the fact that Toscanini heard him perform and told Marcello that he was a consummate musician. I enjoyed my lessons thoroughly. Taking lessons from Mr. Roviaro was like taking piano lessons from Franz Lizst, Chopin's greatest pupil. I recall one day at a Frosini Tribute Concert where all the accordion greats were assembled, Maestro Roviaro performed Frosini's "Accordion Jitters" flawlessly the the admiration of all present. He was an inductee on the Accordionist Hall of Fame of the American Accordionist Association and a former president of that organization. It is very rare to find a master musician who is also a master teacher. Mr. Roviaro was both. Rest in peace dear friend. Carl Restivo M.D.
