Marjorie B. Crawford

Former township resident Marjorie B. "Marge" Crawford, 85, died Feb. 15 at home in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Born in Orange in 1926, she graduated from Millburn High School and attended Stephens College in Missouri. She received an associate in arts degree and later obtained her private pilot's license as part of a World War II support program that the college began in 1944.

At work, she met her future husband, Bill. They were married in 1948.

While living in North Caldwell, Mrs. Crawford volunteered in numerous programs, including Cub Scouts, the town Teen Center and the high school band booster program.

Upon moving to Florida in 1976, she continued her volunteer efforts and helped pilot a program at the Palm Beach International Airport in which she and Bill became the first captains of the Ambassador Program, a traveler assistance program.

Mrs. Crawford is survived by two sons, Thomas and Peter; and three grandchildren.
