Marjorie Van Huizen Obituary

VAN HUIZEN
Marjorie A. (nee Barr), born August 23, 1925, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2016. A lifetime local resident, she graduated from Paterson Central High. A career working at Paterson Wayne General Hospital and volunteering at St. Joseph's Wayne Hospital spanned over 40 years. She was married to her high school sweetheart "Bob" for 45 years until his passing in 1991. A devoted mom and grandmother, sons Donald (and Sinéad Kelly) and James (and Catherine), granddaughter Caitlin, grandsons Garrett and James, and five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents James and Frieda (Martin) Barr, and a sister, Dorothy Sutton and survived by her sister Elaine Marone. "Granny" was an avid reader and traveled extensively during her retirement years with her childhood friend, Shirley. She enjoyed many types of needlework all of which required precision and patience - sewing, crocheting, etc. This precision to detail was a trait that she displayed all her days, from organizing annual Cape Cod vacations when her family was young which they still reminisce about and ending with her final request for a gravesite service only. The graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 28, 2016, meeting at the Laurel Grove Memorial Park, 295 Totowa Road, Totowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the North Haledon Volunteer Ambulance Corp., 792 Belmont Avenue, North Haledon, NJ 07508. (www.browningforshay.com)
